All rights reserved. 5 03 P R E C I S I O N S P A C E U T I L I Z A T I O N M O N I T O R I N G Even if you have broad coverage of your entire facility, it's important to have more precise sensors for tracking the utilization of individual workstations, so you can monitor them separately within your occupancy analytics system. You might also want sensors on specific doorways to monitor traffic in and out of a particular space. Tracking the utilization of individual spaces helps you identify preferences, isolate specific workstations you can repurpose or remove, and segment your space utilization data into smaller units. If you notice, for example, that a particular workstation is always booked, and others in the area spend significantly more time vacant, that could be an indicator that the popular workstation has more desirable features or surround- ings you should try to replicate for the underutilized workstations. Or, perhaps you simply need to help employees find alternative spaces that already have similar charac- teristics. Facility-wide sensor systems enable you to monitor occupancy in large areas, and using precision sensors like desk sensors and door-counting sensors lets you zero-in on smaller problems and opportunities. specialized equipment to be "space," they do occupy space, and
