Evaluating site accessibility
and visibility
As you analyze locations, you need to understand
where they are in relation to local demand and their
ability to access that demand. You can't simply
overlay demographic data, or even traffic patterns, and
accurately project the store's sales. And you can't quantify
the impact of a store's visibility and accessibility without
exploring a range of questions about where people can
see the location from and how easy it is to enter and exit.
Getting this wrong can lead you to create inaccurate site
comparisons, throwing off your sales forecasts.
Your location intelligence software needs to account for
a range of accessibility and visibility factors to ensure it
creates reliable site comparisons.
As you compare solutions, be sure to ask:
ظ Does your software show daily, weekly, or seasonal
traffic spikes?
ظ How do you evaluate each site's visibility? How does
that factor into site models and sales forecasts?
ظ Does your software indicate what directions have
visibility or from how far away?
ظ How does it evaluate location accessibility?
ظ Does it factor in the number of different entrances
and exits?
ظ What does it show about parking availability?
ظ Can it account for pedestrian access, including things
like sidewalk access or public transportation?
