agencies to overestimate required space. The room, workstation, or amenity appears "reserved" in the system, making it unavailable to anyone else, but the space sits unoccupied for the duration. If you're trying to reduce the footprint, these "no-show reservations" skew your data and make reservable spaces appear better utilized than they actually are. And if your agency is working to freeze the footprint, this problem could significantly inhibit employees' access to the resources they need to work. Lean Government Not all desk booking software has a solution for no-show reservations. But Tango Reserve lets you require check-ins for reservations, and if someone doesn't sign-in from the reserved space within a window you specify, the space becomes reservable again. This both helps eliminate the illusion of overutilization and enables agencies to get more use out of the space they have. 02 Modernize office optimization with occupancy analytics Understanding your agency's occupancy and space utilization doesn't necessarily require complex sensor systems. In fact, in an occupancy tracking study we conducted with Verdantix in late 2024, most major enterprises were only tracking occupancy with badge scanning and/or reservation data—and that was enough for them to track utilization and manage their space. What agencies do need, however, is a system that can intake whatever occupancy data they have and surface it in actionable ways. At Tango, we know every agency has their own processes for understanding occupancy and utilization, so we built Tango Space, our space management and occupancy analytics solution, to be data-agnostic. Whether you use badges, reservations, sensors, network access, manual walkthroughs, or another source, Tango Space can incorporate that data in convenient dashboards to help you analyze trends, identify anomalies, and recognize patterns in your space utilization. Using Tango Space as your single source of truth for occupancy, you can track and evaluate how changes in policy or office configuration impact utilization, and ensure you're equipped to handle peak demand. And since Tango Space merges occupancy analytics and space management, you can easily transition from analyzing how your space is being used now to planning how it can be used best. 6 Copyright © 2025 Tango.
