Zero emissions commitment The climate change that would result from making anthropogenic emissions zero. Feasible scenario commitment The climate change that corresponds to the lowest emission scenario that is possible. Infrastructure commitment The climate change that would happen if existing greenhouse gas and aerosol emitting infrastructure was used until the end of its lifetime. Climate extreme (extreme weather or climate event) The occurrence of a weather or climate value that is well above (or below) another value near the upper (or lower) ends of the range of observed values. Both extreme weather events and extreme climate events are often referred to collectively as "climate extremes". Climate feedback loops An interaction in which a disturbance in one climate quantity causes a change in a second quantity, which ultimately leads to another change in the first. Negative feedback means the initial disturbance is weakened by the changes it causes; positive feedback means the initial disturbance is enhanced. The initial disturbance can be caused by either an external or internal force. Climate justice See Justice.
