INTEGRATIONS
Too Many Cooks
The integration between these three products opens up a
proverbial can of worms. Integration approaches vary, with
some vendors using flat file, others using web services or APIs.
Ultimately, with so many cooks in the kitchen, it's hard to know
who is monitoring each integration and who owns issues when
they arise, because they will. A failed integration point may
result in losses due to unauthorized payments or a missed lease
renewal, even the loss of a store.
Who Owns What Data?
Stores go through a logical lifecycle, f rom a potential location, to
a site, a project and ultimately a store. Data builds throughout
this process and having three different systems managing the
lifecycle results in redundant data and a massive data integrity
challenge. Which solution, for example, is the system of record for
the store? What if someone changes it in one system but not the
others? This conundrum occurs across hundreds of data points.
