After you've purchased three solutions and want to get them up and running, who is responsible for the implementation? In reality, the individual vendors will not be well-versed in each other's products – certainly not knowledgeable enough to implement them. And f rankly, each vendor will be motivated to see their own platform succeed. Furthermore, you'll be dealing with three project managers, three groups of consultants, and three different sets of technical resources. This approach is highly inefficient, rife with resource redundancy, and expensive. Finally, should the joint implementations go sideways, the chances of any one vendor taking responsibility are slim, and the result will likely be finger-pointing, recriminations and costly delays.
