The Rise of the Hybrid Workplace: Strategic Opportunities for the Post-Pandemic Office
4
Flexibility
One of the biggest things that sets a hybrid workplace apart
is flexibility. With a traditional workplace model, employees
go to the office every day. In a hybrid workplace, people may
have:
ظ Complete flexibility to work wherever and
whenever they want
ظ A limited number of days they can work remotely
each week or month
ظ A fixed schedule wherein some days they work
remotely and others they're in the office
ظ Specific days they have to come into the office
(such as for monthly or weekly meetings)
Some hybrid workplaces try to optimize for collaboration
while still offering flexibility, so they may require particular
teams or departments to be in the office together,
alternating days with other groups that need to use the
business' space.
This flexibility can also extend to what the office looks like.
Some companies may use satellite locations and other
small collaborative spaces to let employees choose where
they work. And while traditional offices assign specific
workstations, in a hybrid workplace, employees may reserve
different workstations every time they come in.
(More on that later.)
Work isn't a place you go. It's a thing you do. And there are
a lot of jobs that can be performed f rom anywhere with
internet access. Hybrid workplaces leverage the inherent
flexibility of the work to allow the environment to change in
ways that benefit employees and/or the organization as a
whole.
