They want where (and when) they work to revolve around their lives. The more flexibility your hybrid workplace offers, the closer people can get to that ideal work-life balance. Not long ago, companies attracted the best talent by having the best campus. The more ping pong tables, employee lounges, and amenities you could offer, the better. People expected to spend a lot of time on campus, so they wanted to know that it would be a place they could enjoy. But for some people, the ideal work environment is the one they create themselves. Remote work doesn't appeal to everyone. But when working for your organization doesn't require someone to live near one of your locations, or they only have to travel to a company campus occasionally, that can make your position a lot more attractive. People don't have to uproot their lives to make a career change. And that's especially important for prospective employees who have kids, partners with careers of their own, and family or other meaningful communities where they live. It's also valuable if your campuses are located in cities where the cost of living is high. Hybrid workplaces allow people to earn competitive salaries while living in more affordable locations. As hybrid workplaces continue to normalize, talented people will expect high-quality companies to compete on flexibility.
