Floor Plan 2.0: Discovering Your Future Office
4
Returning to the office
When you plan the return to work, you'll need to make
predictions about how much space to dedicate to hoteling
(also known as "flex space" or "hot desking"), virtual
collaboration, coworking spaces, amenities, etc. You may
also abandon your open floor plan in favor of plexiglass-
divided cubicles, or double down on the open floor plan to
implement a "six-foot office."
Whatever your plans look like, the data you based them on
is outdated. You can't design the office of the future based
on pre-COVID or mid-pandemic information. Whether you
completely re-imagined your office, tacked-on some safety
measures to the old model, or based your floor plan on
how your employees intended to use your office space, you
probably need to make some changes.
But you'll only be able to make the right changes if your
business is equipped to monitor and evaluate how the return
is going. To discover what the office of the future will look like
for your business, you need to combine insight f rom your
employees with data about how your space is being used.
