It is measured by the generation and distribution facilities. Related content: Understand Electricity Demand Charges Electricity demand bid In an energy market, there are electricity suppliers, and those who wish to secure this electricity to meet their consumers' electricity demand. An electricity demand bid is made by the demand side entities to the electricity suppliers. The bid indicates the amount of electricity or ancillary services that the buyer is willing to purchase and the price the buyer is willing to pay for these. Electricity generation This is the process of generating electric energy through the transformation of other forms of energy, such as from the energy stored in coal, UV rays, or the kinetic energy in water, to name a few examples. Electricity generated is often expressed in kilowatt-hours(kWh) or megawatt-hours (MWh). Electric vehicle (EV) A motor vehicle that is powered by electricity. Battery electric vehicle (BEV) A vehicle that is powered entirely by electricity, without the use of an internal combustion engine. Plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) A vehicle that is powered mainly by electricity through the use of batteries, but additional power and distance driving can be derived through a hybrid internal combustion engine, often fueled by gasoline. The battery can be re-charged from an electric source.
