THE IMPACT OF BUILDINGS
Buildings are central to our lives, economy, and environment.
The built environment generates 40% of annual global CO2
emissions (IEA) and of those total emissions, building
operations are responsible for 27% annually. Building and
infrastructure materials and construction compromise the
additional 13% (embodied carbon). Climate goals, many of
which revolve around reducing carbon emissions, can only be
met with a heavy emphasis on building energy efficiency.
