With private label products, they could exert greater control over the supply chain and distribution channels. Consumers were more willing to buy whatever was available, and stores with private label catalogs were equipped to ensure that their products were available more often. While stores competed for the limited supply f rom top brands, private label products flew off the shelves. Are private labels going to become the top brands consumers seek out at major retailers? Maybe. But probably not. More importantly though, post-COVID consumers will have greater trust in some retailers' ability to provide viable alternatives to the brands they love. So when their preferred brand is out of stock in the future, they'll be more willing to select private label products instead. Embracing private label products
